Super Visa

Super Visa

  • Special multiple-entry visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Allows stays of up to 5 years per visit, with a validity of up to 10 years.
  • Requires:
    • Proof of financial support from the child or grandchild
    • Private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company
Work Permit

  • Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):

  • Employer-Specific Work Permit:

    • Usually requires:
      • A job offer
      • A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

  • Spousal Open Work Permit:
    • For spouses or common-law partners of students or skilled workers.
    • Allows them to work for any employer in Canada.

TRP

Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)

  • Issued to individuals who are inadmissible to Canada but have a valid reason for temporary entry (e.g., criminality, medical inadmissibility).
  • Valid for a limited period and for specific purposes only.
  • Application is:
    • Discretionary
    • Reviewed on a case-by-case basis

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

  • Allows provinces and territories to nominate individuals for permanent residence based on local economic and labor market needs.
  • Each province/territory has its own streams and criteria, such as:
    • Skilled workers
    • Business people
    • International graduates

  • Nominees must apply for permanent residence after receiving a provincial nomination.
Express Entry

Express Entry

  • Online system for managing applications for permanent residence under three federal economic programs:
    • Federal Skilled Worker
    • Federal Skilled Trades
    • Canadian Experience Class

  • Applicants are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on:
    • Age
    • Education
    • Work experience
    • Language ability
    • Other factors

  • Highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws.
Family Sponsorship

Family Sponsorship

    • Best interests of children
    • Consequences of removal

  • Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
PR Card

PR Card (Permanent Resident Card)

  • Official proof of permanent resident status in Canada.
  • Required for PRs to re-enter Canada by commercial vehicle (plane, train, bus, or boat).
  • PR cards are valid for 5 years and must be renewed before expiry.
PR Travel Document

Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD)

  • Issued to permanent residents outside Canada who do not have a valid PR card and need to return to Canada.
  • Valid for one single entry to Canada.
  • Applicants must demonstrate they meet the residency obligation.
Citizenship

Citizenship

  • Canadian citizenship can be obtained by:
    • Birth in Canada
    • Naturalization
  • Requirements for naturalization include:
    • Physical presence in Canada (usually 3 out of the last 5 years)
    • Language proficiency in English or French
    • Passing a citizenship test
